Flamme Rouge Sonic hubs are built to the same exacting tolerances as regular sonics, but reduce weight with a carbon hub shell and forged titanium ratchet ring. Abec5 bearings are used for durability and low rolling resistance. Ti skewers are lighter than stock steel ones. The Scandium alloyed rims on FR wheels are lighter, stronger, and stiffer than unalloyed models.

HED H3 Wheels -- The H3 has propelled more Grand Tour riders to the podium than any other wheel. Why? It is not a secret. The H3 is the ultimate in all wind conditions. Whether it is a headwind, crosswind, or tailwind, the H3 is fast. Other wheels (even Hed's own) are certainly speedy, but all other wheels have a specific wind range where they excel. The H3 offers speed no matter where the wind is. The pros know this, and many count on the H3 as their no compromise TT wheel choice.
H3 wheels offer full on aero performance in any conditions. The key to the wide range of performance is the combination of a 55mm deep rim section, the airfoil section spokes and the smooth transitions between the two. The 55mm deep rim keeps drag low at shallow yaw angles. When the yaw angle goes past 15° the aero spokes work to keep the wheel from stalling, and drag stays flat. The optimum wind angle for the H3 is an amazing.

HED H3D Wheels -- The H3D is built by applying Hed's Jet 9 aero rim section to the standard H3.
Why ride the H3D vs. the standard H3? There are two particular scenarios where the H3D has an advantage over the H3.
1. Used as a front wheel the H3D is faster than the H3 out to 10 degrees of wind yaw angle. Generally this means that 25mph and faster riders will get a benefit from the H3D because at these speeds yaw angles are generally low. At higher yaw angles the H3 is a faster wheel which is why for the majority of triathletes where speeds are 25mph and less the H3 still tends to have an advantage.
2. When used as a rear wheel the H3D has been proven to faster than any other rear wheel besides a disc. This has been proven over the course of many full bike and rider tests. This makes the rear H3D the ideal choice for events where disc wheels are not allowed or if you that prefer the ride and lighter feel of non disc wheels. It is believed that the blades of the H3 actually help to correct yaw angle winds in the rear of the bike and thus show results that are better than their wheel alone data.

When the substrate wheel is completed, trued, and stress relieved, disc sides are bonded to the hub rim and spokes. With a two part building process, the disc sides can be made lighter and shaped more readily, without losing any strength.

That means Stinger 6 FR's go faster in a wider range of wind conditions than ever before. When side winds kick up, your wheels will still go fast, and they will handle very well. The new shape is such an improvement that the 60mm deep Stinger 6 handles more like a 45mm deep wheel in a crosswind.

HED Stinger 7 FR Wheels -- After suggestions from their pro teams for a deeper and stiffer wheel for road racing Hed developed the Stinger 7. This is the deepest wheel they recommend for road racing.
The Stinger 7 is ideal for the sprinter - it's super stiff! The sidewalls are reinforced to provide that stiffness without compromising the overall weight of the wheel. The reinforced side walls help eliminate flex in a corner or when you are going all out towards the line.
Triathletes will also benefit for the deeper more aero faring. The 7's will provide increased aerodynamics but not compromise handling at all. The deeper section will help on the long stretches of roads triathletes face but not move when faced with a crosswind.

HED Stinger 9 FR Wheels -- The Stinger 9 FR rim shape not only lowers drag at all angles but also gives the rim a bigger window of aerodynamic effectiveness. As with the Stinger 6, Steve Hed has again proven that shape is actually more important than depth as the Stinger 9 FR not only outperforms every spoked wheel shallower than 90mm but it also outperforms all the wheels that deeper than 90mm. During development of the new shape Hed also set out to increase lateral stiffness, cornering performance, and impact durability. This was done without affecting the impressively comfortable ride quality.
Hed focused considerable energy on the type of carbon used to make the rim as well as the orientation of the fibers. Balancing lateral stiffness, vertical compliance, impact resistance, cornering performance is quite a dance. The result of SCT Tuning efforts is that the Stinger 9 uses three different types of carbon and a unique layup schedule that produces a wheel that is 15% stiffer laterally and 10% more impact resistant. This was done while maintaining vertical compliance and making the rim 25 grams lighter. Cornering is noticably improved by the use of our C2 tire well.

- Stinger wheels are designed for 23mm tires. Aerodynamically this is the fastest setup we found.
- The C2 tire well is most impact resistant with 22mm or larger tires.
- Using a tire less than 22mm will void the warranty
- Riders 180 - 210 lbs should run 24mm or larger tires.
- Minimum tire pressure for Stingers is 120 psi, max 135.
